THE GREAT BATTLE OF THE MIND
Commander: Are you ready?
Soldiers: Yes sir!!!
Commander: What is our mission?
Soldiers: To win this battle of the mind.
Commander: Charrrrgggggeeeee!!!!
They lost the battle.
The Commander tried to gear them up and tell them misfortunes happen every now and then but the Faith soldiers were badly beaten, all they wanted to do was nurse their wounds. They had lost a battalion to the Fear soldiers and right now they could hear the noise of clubbing in the Fear Camp. Smiling Faith could just picture their ugly looking ladies twerking to the horrible noise they listened to as music. With all the pep talk the Commander had given them, they were sure they would boost Larry's confidence enough for him to make deposits for the course he wanted to take in Public Relations as a means of upgrading his worth. But they were shocked by what the Fear soldiers did. They not only ate a healthy plate of meal from Larry's thoughts but they got mercenaries from Procrastination camp and Nonchalance club. When Larry picked the phone to book an appointment with the PR Agency, they rushed at the Faith soldiers and the few who survived considered themselves lucky.
Meanwhile, its was time for Paaarrrtttyyyy!!!
Commander: Drinks on me guys
Soldiers: Yeahhhh!!!!!
Commander: DJ hold on, turn the music off for a minute.
The DJ obliges the Commander.
Commander: So I want to say a big congratulations to each and every one soldier here today. You guys did an amazing and quick job. We had no casualty and we had a lot of loot.
Yaaaaaayyyyyy!!!!! The soldiers scream. The Commander beams at them and signals for them to be quiet so he can continue.
Commander: I also want to give special thanks to Supreme Procrastination for encouraging Larry to postpone the registration to next month when he feels he would have more money at his disposal. Lets hear it please for Supreme Procrastination please.
Yaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!!!!! "Go Commander".
Commander: Thank you so much. I also want us to give it up for Magnificent Nonchalance. He was able to convince Larry to commonise the PR certification as something of less relevance. Thankfully Larry bought it and I'm not sure he wouldn't be thinking about it anytime soon, so we got that covered. And to all of you my loyal Fear soldiers, words fail me to express my gratitude. I love the way Sweaty Fear made Larry's palm begin to sweat when he thought about how he would go through the month if he took his savings to register for this course. It was so funny. I even thought he would shit his pants. Oh Fear, you guys are terrific.
The soldiers give a thunderous round of applause and throw appreciative screams at the Commander. He sure knows how to deliver a speech.
Commander: Finally, I know James, Larry's Friend wouldn't be able to hear this but he sure deserves some accolades. If he didn't come to Larry with all the negative news of how the economy was getting harder, how he wasted his money in a professional course he has never used and how he was managing his money to take him through the month, Larry wouldn't have had any thought to feed us with. And those losers at the Faith camp would have filled him with all the bullshit of how taking a PR course would increase his knowledge, expand his expertise and the many blabs they blab.
He looks over at the quiet camp disdainfully. Thank goodness for James. He prayed that many more negative things would happen to James, so he could have a storehouse of negative information to feed Larry so Larry in turn could feed them.
Commander: With that being said, let the party continue. DJ turn it up to the highest volume, everyone needs to hear this.
Chinjaaaaaa, kajaaaalopppppuuuuuulebeteliiiiiii saratummmmkododjbcdinucjdnicojwdspodcnjd
this is what their music sounds like. Depressing and meaningless. But their ladies twerk to it, so what can I say?
Commander Strong Faith is in his tent in deep thoughts. How could he get Larry to stop being negative and feeding the Fear camp? Larry is such a bright person with such an amazing future ahead of him but he had a way of always listening to the Fear Commander. In less than 3 weeks, he had cancelled out on resuming his exercises, dieting, reading and now this. He didn't seem to know that he was denying himself or that he was short-circuiting himself. He never saw a reason to push through and even when he did, Fear ever dominating dragged him back to procrastination and and Nonchalance. Commander Strong Faith really needed to help him so he could help his soldiers as well. The rate at which Larry was going, they seemed to be loosing more battles and soldiers. He was very concerned that they didn't go to extinction. He needs a plan. He needs to return to the strategising table. Tomorrow he would call for a meeting with the strategising team.
Commander: Good morning guys, at ease.
Soldiers: Good morning Sir
Commander: I know you soldiers are not surprised by this meeting, neither are you in the dark as to why you are here.
They all nodded.
Commander: This situation in our hands has lingered long enough and if we don't handle it quickly we are on the verge of extinction. I have been up all night thinking of what to do but I can't seem to come up with anything. Our soldiers are weak and we haven't eaten in months. Our reserve is running low. If we don't look for a remedy before another battle, I'm afraid guys then this is the end.
The soldiers look amongst themselves, each trying to come up with something.
Caring Faith: Sir I think there is something we can adopt from the enemy.
All the other soldiers look at him like he has just lost his mind. Commander Faith on the other hand is at his wits end and is open to any suggestion even from Commander Fear, so long as it works for their good.
Commander: I'm listening soldier.
Caring Faith: I observed something Commander Fear did. He employed civilians into his force to counsel him on certain things that are beyond him. They in-turn know what Larry loves and how to turn him off. So they victory isn't entirely Fear's but the joint effort of Procrastination and Nonchalance. How about we get other camps to join us, that way we can get fed and while we are in battle they can be talking to Larry as well.
Everyone is quiet, deeply reflecting on what Caring Faith just said. Probably wondering why they didnt think of this earlier.
Commander: Caring Faith, no one has spoken such wisdom in a while. You are so right!.
The other soldiers nod in affirmation.
Commander: We definitely need help if we are to win this battle. Now who can we contact?
Daring Faith: Sir, I think we can talk to Hope, Encouragement, Wisdom and Love.
Commander: That is so true, they would guide him to the right people and information. Who in turn would cause him to feed us and starve the Fear camp. Nice one. But I don't think I've seen them in a while.
Daring Faith: That's because they have been vacationing. No work around here so they took the time to get tanned and enjoy the beach air.
Commander: Then send soldiers to them at once. Vacation is over.
The soldiers get to Hope, Encouragement, Wisdom and Love and joined forces. Wisdom nudged Larry to dump James as a friend because he always left him feeling worse than how he was. He got closer to Christen who dragged him to church and seminars where his confidence and self worth was built. Encouragement cheered him up even when he made mistakes and Hope gave him a picture he began to work towards. Love on other hand always made him feel valued and never left his side inspite of any mistake and shortcoming. That way Faith was built, new soldiers recruited. More heavy weight soldiers built and Fear starved to death.
This is your mind and the above story is just a few of the emotions that are active in our minds. Take note however, that WHAT YOU FEED GROWS AND WHAT YOU STARVE DIES. Feed your faith and starve your fear. If you liked this, please drop a comment below. Thank you.
